What is a QR code for your car, and what do you need it for?
A QR code for your car sits on the inside of the windscreen. It makes you reachable without your phone number being on display. If someone notices a parking ding, an open window or your lights left on, they scan the code with their phone camera and message you. They don't need an app for that. The DriveID is exactly that kind of QR code. The message goes through SilentLink, so your number stays private.
Does my phone number really stay private?
Yes. Your number isn't on the DriveID and doesn't appear in any message. Everything runs through our platform, which works in line with the GDPR. You decide whether and how you reply.
Is a QR code on the windscreen allowed?
Yes, as long as it doesn't block your view. In Germany, this is covered by § 23 StVO, the road traffic regulations. That's why the DriveID is deliberately small, the size of a credit card (54 × 86 mm). It belongs on the inside, in a lower corner of the windscreen or on a side window, where an emissions badge or vignette would go. Rules can differ in other countries, so a quick check is worth it.

Can I manage several DriveIDs under one account?
Yes, as many as you like, all in one account. That's handy for a second car, family cars or a whole fleet. In a set of three, one DriveID is free. If you change cars, you switch off the old DriveID with one click and activate a new one in the same account.
